DIY Pipe Cleaner Valentine’s Day Cards

It’s been a while since my last pipe cleaner craft, so I thought Valentine’s Day would be a perfect occasion to bust out my chenille stems again! These cards are very easy to do, and they are a great for sensory learning. Kids love the colors and the fuzziness.
All I did was use clip art from my Publisher program, align them to where I needed on the page, and used the washout feature to make them barely there. It’s a lot easier than drawing them!
The rose card is my favorite. It kind of reminds me of Beauty and the Beast. See the pink line on the rose card and the little heart on the LOVE card? Those are both covering up a hot glue oops. Not a part of the original plan, but it worked out fine! The heart on the O makes it look like a ring, but that obviously wasn’t my intention. I like it though. It could go either way.
The bee I just drew three ovals in Publisher in a basic shape of a bee. It’s very Winnie the Pooh-esque. The little heart was made curling both ends of a pipe cleaner and then bending it in the middle. It takes care of the awkwardness of trying to make both sides exactly the same. Not my forte. To make nice hearts I have to follow a pattern like in the other card.
Each card took me about 30 minutes to make. They may not be the most elegant of cards, but they are fun and whimsical.

  7. OMG!!!! These are so cute and great for older kids to do…. there is not many things for pre teens and teens to do with the little kids that they don’t feel silly doing.
